Part-Time Remote Ultrasound Dispatcher

Schedule: Thu–Mon, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM CDT
Location: Remote

Position Overview

As an Ultrasound Dispatcher, you will coordinate the scheduling and dispatching of sonographers to appropriate geographical areas based on client needs, prioritizing urgent and routine cases. You’ll play a key role in ensuring timely, efficient, and patient-focused ultrasound services while supporting technologists and client facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Dispatch sonographers to correct locations based on urgency and client protocols (STAT, ASAP, PRIORITY)
Understand and prioritize same-day versus scheduled ultrasound services
Communicate and coordinate patient prep instructions with facilities and nursing staff

Verify diagnoses, symptoms, and ultrasound study types to ensure proper scheduling and technician dispatch
Stay knowledgeable on Medicare guidelines, diagnosis codes, and insurance acceptance
Assist technologists with directions, case details, and technical issues, escalating as needed
Manage scheduling for fixed physician sites and prison facilities, maintaining updated contact lists
Create and process work orders based on client requests received via calls or fax
Fax final reports to facilities upon request
Maintain thorough knowledge of assigned dispatch area geography
Support customer service with overflow scheduling as needed

Qualifications

Understanding of medical insurance, Medicare guidelines, and ultrasound procedures
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, remote environment
Familiarity with healthcare terminology, diagnosis codes, and medical protocols preferred
Previous experience in dispatching, medical scheduling, or ultrasound services is a plus
