Toptal is seeking an entrepreneurial, experienced executive to build and lead our Health & Life Sciences (HLS) Staffing business line. As General Manager, you will own the strategy, execution, and growth of this new vertical—helping clients across the HLS ecosystem access highly specialized talent.

This remote role requires you to be U.S.-based and authorized to work in the United States. We welcome applications from experienced professionals ready to drive innovation in one of the fastest-growing industries in the world.


āœ… Key Responsibilities

As General Manager, you will:


šŸ“… What to Expect

First Week:

  • Onboard with key teams and learn Toptal’s platform, operations, and business model.

First Month:

  • Conduct HLS industry research and competitive analysis.

  • Draft a preliminary business plan and identify pilot functions.

First 3 Months:

  • Finalize the HLS business strategy and begin building operational infrastructure.

  • Launch MVP offerings and gather early feedback.

First 6 Months:

  • Execute GTM strategy and show early traction in revenue and client engagement.

First Year:

  • Achieve product-market fit, expand into new HLS roles, and deliver consistent business growth.


šŸŽ“ Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or Master’s in Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in staffing, recruiting, or workforce solutions.

  • 3+ years of P&L ownership with proven results in business growth and operational scaling.

  • Strong background in non-professional staffing or life sciences talent solutions.

  • Track record of launching or building new business lines from scratch.

  • Deep understanding of HLS sectors (pharma, medtech, biotech, healthcare providers, etc.).

  • Experience working in tech-forward, hyper-growth, or remote-first environments.

  • Exceptional skills in client relationship management, analytics, and cross-functional leadership.

  • High level of entrepreneurial energy, initiative, and strategic thinking.
