About the Role

Every day is game day at ESPN.
We’re passionate about sports, storytelling, and using cutting-edge technology to bring fans closer to the action—wherever they are. Now, we’re looking for a Remote Talent Statistician to support our production teams and elevate our live broadcasts with real-time stats, insights, and trends that help shape the viewer experience.

This is a recurring (freelance-style) remote role that puts you right in the middle of the broadcast action, working behind the scenes to support announcers and graphics producers during live events.

What You’ll Do

  • Research key storylines, matchups, and stats before each event

  • Confirm starting lineups, officiating crews, and other pregame essentials

  • Track plays live and answer real-time questions (e.g., Was that a 3-pointer? Who drew the foul?)

  • Spot in-game trends and communicate them to talent in a concise, non-disruptive way

  • Relay timely stats and data to graphics producers via headset

  • Coordinate with team PR or SID reps for last-minute info and clarifications

What We’re Looking For

Must-Haves:

  • A valid U.S. driver’s license

  • Strong knowledge of sports rules, history, terminology, and stats

  • Clear, professional communicator—especially over headset during live broadcasts

  • Previous experience handling sports stats in a live production environment

  • Professional demeanor, especially when representing ESPN in the field (courtside, booth, etc.)

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Solid math skills for fast, on-the-fly calculations

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field
