📌 About the Role

We’re looking for a Remote Underwriter to join our fast-growing Pricing & Underwriting team. You’ll be evaluating risk and building competitive pricing for our proprietary Comfort health plan and level-funded health insurance products — helping us grow responsibly while keeping things affordable for our customers.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a few years of experience in underwriting, especially in stop-loss or level-funded plans, who’s ready to take the next step and make an impact.

🛠️ What You’ll Be Doing

  • Use our proprietary underwriting engine to generate smart pricing models for new and renewing group plans

  • Analyze claims, demographics, and utilization data to determine group risk

  • Apply underwriting guidelines and judgment to create competitive, data-driven proposals

  • Collaborate with Sales, Account Management, and Product teams to support quote strategies

  • Provide strategic feedback on product positioning and underwriting best practices

  • Help improve internal tools, processes, and documentation

  • Stay up to date on industry regulations, trends, and compliance requirements

✅ What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5 years of underwriting experience, with at least 1–2 years in level-funded or stop-loss medical plans

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Mathematics, or similar

  • Strong analytical and technical skills; comfort working with data

  • Excellent communication skills – you can explain risk like a pro to both technical and non-technical teammates

  • A self-starter who can prioritize and work independently in a remote setting

  • Comfortable juggling multiple priorities and meeting deadlines

💡 Bonus Points If You Have

  • Experience in a startup or high-growth company

  • Professional certifications (e.g., HIA, CEBS, MHP, FLMI)

  • A Master’s degree or advanced analytics training

💰 Salary & Benefits

  • Base Salary Range: $58,600 – $97,600/year (commensurate with experience)

  • Fully remote position (with the option to work from our Minneapolis HQ if preferred)
