📝 About the Role

Symetra is hiring a Disability Nurse Consultant to support the review and administration of disability, absence management, and life insurance claims. You’ll evaluate medical records, verify diagnoses, and assess functional limitations to support fair, thorough claims decisions. This is an ideal role for RNs seeking a remote, flexible career in clinical consulting within the insurance industry.

✅ Key Responsibilities

Conduct medical reviews of clinical documentation to determine diagnoses, restrictions, and limitations
Provide medical opinion on anticipated duration of conditions based on clinical evidence
Engage with healthcare providers to clarify medical conditions and treatments

🧠 What You Bring

Active RN license and nursing degree from an accredited institution
Minimum 2 years of acute clinical care experience (hospital setting)
Preferred: Disability/absence management, occupational health, or psych nursing experience
Preferred: Certification in case management or rehabilitation nursing
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical, multitasking, and time-management abilities
