Symetra is seeking a Disability Nurse Consultant to join our growing Life, Absence, and Disability (LAD) team. In this role, you’ll leverage your clinical expertise to assess disability claims, evaluate medical records, and support claim decision-making—all while working remotely with a passionate and innovative team.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities:

Review medical records and documentation to determine diagnosis accuracy and related restrictions/limitations
Assess claim validity and estimate appropriate durations based on medical evidence
Proactively contact healthcare providers to gather case-specific clinical insights
Document findings clearly and within established timeframes and quality standards

Collaborate with claims staff to deliver educational support on anatomy, diagnostics, and treatment trends
Participate in ongoing training and assist with special projects

✅ What We’re Looking For:

Required Qualifications:

RN license in good standing (active and unrestricted)
Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience in acute care or equivalent setting
High-level organizational, multitasking, and documentation skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in disability or absence management, occupational health, or psychiatric nursing
Certification in case management (CCM), rehabilitation nursing (CRRN), or related specialty
Previous claims review or insurance industry experience
